Internship Opportunities

WORLD has three internship opportunities available for the summer.

Finance/Accounting Internship:

WORLD is seeking a finance/accounting intern to assist our Finance Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for a student or recent graduate to gain experience in non-profit finance accounting and join an enthusiastic and collaborative team based in Oakland, CA.

Social Media Internship:
WORLD is seeking a social media intern to assist in growing and managing our current social media platforms. Intern will be instrumental in increasing our social media presence, driving traffic to our website, and engaging audiences. The ideal candidate is comfortable with all major social media outlets (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, WordPress, etc), and will be able to create interesting, engaging, and unique content.

Community Outreach Internship:
WORLD is seeking a community outreach intern to assist in managing the growth of our community presence and awareness. This is an excellent opportunity for a student to gain experience in event-planning and building relationships with community partners, while working in an enthusiastic and collaborative team.

WORLD has ongoing student internship opportunities available for Social Work and Social Welfare students.

Social Work Student Internship:

WORLD provides field placement opportunities for students at the bachelors and masters levels who are enrolled and participating in educational coursework in the local area.  WORLD has existing relationships with universities within commuting distance of WORLD’s Oakland office and is often able to accommodate new requests for similar placements.  Field placements are competitive and made available to support the expectations of academic coursework as well as WORLD’s programming needs in direct services.  Field placement internships begin in the Fall semester and continue through the Spring semester in accordance with academic calendars, and priority is given to students able to commit for the full duration of this timeline.  At times, WORLD may consider summer internships, as well.  If interested, please contact WORLD’s Associate Executive Director, Carla Dillard Smith, at 510-986-0340 to discuss current placement opportunities.
