Black Women’s Health Imperative (BWHI) and Women Organized to Respond to Life-threatening Diseases (WORLD) are hosting a FREE Community Listening Session at Oakland’s own Oakstop next week!
On June 14th, 2018, from 5:30-8:30 PM, women of color are showing up and speaking up for their needs and desires at a fun and empowering event that will include spoken word, games, raffles, and some amazing DJ spins, as well as a panel on HIV and STIs, sexual and reproductive health rights, and access to healthcare. We need YOUR input to guide health and wellness programs, policies, and research in Oakland.
This is a completely FREE event ! You get a $15 gift card, light dinner, prize opportunities, and great entertainment for showing up and advocating for the needs and desires of you and your sisters! Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a short video clip, where they can share personal experiences regarding reproductive justice and other health needs, offering insight as to how to best support ourselves and others on Our Own Terms!
Come for the networking opportunities, come for the fun, and come for yourself – we want to do what’s right for you! BWHI and WORLD have a combined 60+ year history of fighting for the health and wellness needs of women of color, and we want to make sure that our work is ALWAYS grounded in the lived experiences of WoC.
Tickets are available at Eventbrite, on Facebook, and by contacting Molly at WORLD.
