Join WORLD this December 4th from 4PM-8PM at Club 21 in Downtown Oakland!
For many people, World AIDS Day isn’t just one day a year. It is every day.
While women already shoulder many family and community responsibilities as primary caregivers to children and others, living with HIV/AIDS makes women’s lives even more challenging. Living with the virus is an ongoing health concern that requires routine medical care and also self-care in a society where women too rarely find time for themselves. As we move into this holiday season, WORLD reminds the Bay Area to think of the mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and other women in your community who struggle with, survive, and triumph over HIV/AIDS.
On December 4, 2013, WORLD will host a toy drive and fundraiser at Club 21 in Oakland in honor of World AIDS Day. Although the event is free to our partners and community supporters, WORLD welcomes your donation. We are excited to announce that MAC Makeup has graciously offered to support our World AIDS Day event and toy drive by offering a free makeover at the event to anyone who donates a toy for a woman living with HIV so she may give it to her children or grandchildren. WORLD will also hold a silent auction at the event, so bring your checkbooks and start working on those holiday gifts for your loved ones.
We are very excited about this event and look forward to seeing our community partners and other supporters. Drop by and see us! We will have light refreshments, entertainment, and a screening of our new PSA “You Are Not Alone,” filmed by the amazing HIV Story Project.
