Kari Eells, a quiet accountant from Morris, New York who became the bedrock of one of the nation’s preeminent disability rights organizations and a critical member of our board passed away at sunset on December 12th after a short illness, surrounded by family and love. She was 69.

“In the short time we knew her, Kari made an enormous contribution to WORLD.
She was quite simply, the best financial expert to serve in the role of a non-profit Treasurer I have ever worked with. Kari had the unique ability to critique and educate in a way that enhanced your knowledge without diminishing your confidence.I always felt supported and empowered after spending time with her. A shining example was when she ended a particularly challenge meeting where the numbers just did not make sense, by handing me a check for a generous contribution. She then pledged to give more.It was her way of saying she believed in our mission and that she had faith in my leadership to get WORLD through the hard times.

She was a class act and we will miss her enormously.
